     Shen Bao(Shanghai news) had started publication on April the 30th 1872 at Shanghai. The last issue was printed on May the 27th 1949. Shen Bao is the longest extended newspaper in China before 1949.

     It had recorded the Social history of modern and contemporary China. Therefore the newspaper keeps large numbers of valuable data upon which researches in various fields can be based. In the early period of the 

 

Anti-Japanese War, Shen Bao had stopped publication at one time. It had published Hankou version(January 15th_July 11th 1938) and Hongkong version(March 1th _July 10th 1939) successively. Shen Bao had resumed published at Shanghai on October 10th.On December 8th when the Pacific War break out, Shen Bao published supported by Japanese Colonial Government. The photolithograph of Shen Bao collects all those issues though some of them are repeated. 

     The photolithograph of Shen Bao was printed based on the complete set of original newspapers hold by Shanghai Library. The photolithographs are half to the original size and are divided into 400 volumes sorted by time.

     The Great iconography of Chinese ancient civilization is a set of series chiefly edited by Liu changle etc. The series is divided as eight volumes named as She Ji, Zhu Ding, Shen Nong, Shi Zu, Wen Yuan, Shi Feng, Tong Shi and Yi Shou.
