Shen Bao(Shanghai news) had started publication on April the 30^th 1872 at Shanghai. The last issue was printed on May the 27^th 1949. Shen Bao is the longest extended newspaper in China before 1949.

     It had recorded the Social history of modern and contemporary China. Therefore the newspaper keeps large numbers of valuable data upon which researches in various fields can be based. In the early period of the 

Anti-Japanese War, Shen Bao had stopped publication at one time. It had published Hankou version(January 15^th_July 11^th 1938) and Hongkong version(March 1^th _July 10^th 1939) successively. Shen Bao had resumed published at Shanghai on October 10^th.On December 8^th when the Pacific War break out, Shen Bao published supported by Japanese Colonial Government. The photolithograph of Shen Bao collects all those issues though some of them are repeated. 

     The photolithograph of Shen Bao was printed based on the complete set of original newspapers hold by Shanghai Library. The photolithographs are half to the original size and are divided into 400 volumes sorted by time.
